The German guitarist Daniel März received his first guitar lessons at the age of nine, in the class of Thomas Oldenbürger. In 2014 he began studying in Prof. Hubert Käppel’s class at the Koblenz International Guitar Academy and afterwards at the Cologne University of Music and Dance.
He has had masterclasses with famous guitarists and professors, such as Pepe Romero, Aniello Desiderio, Scott Tennant, Göran Söllscher and Costas Cotsiolis.
Daniel März is a prize winner of the national competition “Jugend musiziert”. In June 2013 he was also awarded the first prize and a special prize in the chamber music category at the 7th International Karl Adler Music Competition in Stuttgart. At the chamber music competition in Gevelsberg, in March of 2014, he won the first prize and a special prize.
As a soloist and as a member of the ensembles Quartett Rheinsaiten and Cologne Guitar Duo, he has given concerts in many countries, such as Italy, England, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and France. He played in many international concert series and festivals – in the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, International Guitar Festival Vaihingen an der Enz, classical guitar series in Oberhausen (Guitarrisimo), Venezia (Music Festival), Stuttgart (Museum concert series “House of Music”), Essen (Classical Guitar in the “Kreuzer”), Salisbury (in cooperation with the King’s singers) Jüchen (Jüchen Guitar Concerts and International Guitar Festival), Nordhorn (International Guitar Festival), Düsseldorf (International Guitar Festival), Berlin (concert series Michael Batell) etc. With the Quartett Rheinsaiten, he won a first prize and a special prize at the 12th International Karl Adler Music Competition in Stuttgart. Daniel März gets invitations to be a part of the jury and to give masterclasses at many music competitions and festivals (national competition “Jugend musiziert”, Pro Musica Competition, festivals in Oberhausen, Nordhorn, Vaihingen…).
After a few years of giving private lessons, since 2017 he teaches at the music school “Pro Musica” in Jüchen and is the director of the guitar department. His students are prize winners of youth competitions, such as “Jugend musiziert”, Youth Guitar Competition Gevelsberg, Guitar Competition Nordhorn and the Youth Competition Jüchen.
Since 2015 Daniel März is working together with Arne Harder as the artistic director of the concert series “Jüchener Gitarrenkonzerte”. With this project, he won the “Deutscher Bürgerpreis” (first prize) in 2015. Since 2016 they are also artistic directors of the International Guitar Festival Jüchen and since 2018 directors of the Guitar Academy Jüchen.
