Julia Souglakou

Julia Souglakou  has studied classical singing in Athens with     Aris Christofellis and in London, on the “Maria Callas” scholarship, under the guidance of  Chr. Lambrakis.

She  has, time and again, collaborated with the Greek National Opera, the Athens Concert Hall, the Salonika Concert Hall, with a great number of Festivals (Athens Festival, Montpellier, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Nafplion, Santorini), playing opera roles such as : Nedda (Pagliacci), Elvira (Ernani), Amelia (Boccanegra), Contessa  ( Nozze di Figaro), Santuzza (Cavalleria), Bolena, First Lady (Zauberflöte), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni),  Freia, (Rheingold), Lady Macbeth, Leonora (Trovatore), GiocondaMadre (Prigioniero), Ariadne,  Begbick (Mahagony), Andromache’s Farewell, Mrs Grose (Turn of the Screw),Medea (Mayr), Brünhilde (Götterdämmerung). Ortrud (Lohengrin), Kostelnitska (Jenufa).

She has also interpreted leading parts in operas by Greek composers, such as: Kalomiris (Shadowy Waters, Anatoli),Samaras (RheaMartys), Kounadis (Gyrismos), Theodorakis (LyssistrataAntigone), Mikroutsikos (Eleni’s Return),Tsalahouris (Pushkin),Carrer (Markos Botsaris, Frossini), Koumentakis (Murderess), Kipourgos (Medea), Rossopoulos (Kerenia Koukla).

Besides, she has participated in Oratorio productions, such as: Johannes Passion, Messias, Requiem (Mozart, Brahms), Stabat Mater (Pergolesi, Boccherini), 9th Symphony (Beethoven), Nelson’s Mass (Haydn), Elias, Paulus (Mendelsohn),C-moll  Mass (Mozart), Oratorio de Noël (Saint-Saëns).

She has made a wide range of personal recitals and participated in  many chamber music concerts. In addition, she has joined forces, as a Soloist with big as well as small orchestras, such as: Athens State Orchestra, Thessaloniki State Orchestra, Orchestra of  Colors, Prague Virtuosi, Philharmonic Orchestra of  Köln, National Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of  Athens  and many others.
