Maro Razi

She studied guitar at the National Conservatoire of Athenswith Evangelos Assimakopoulos.  She graduated in 1979 obtaining her ‘Diploma’ with ‘First Prize’ and ‘Award of Excellence.  Soon thereafter, she studied with Alberto Ponce at the Ecole Normalede Musique de Paris.  She has participated in many seminars and masterclasses conducted by many eminent musicians (Andres Segovia, AlexanderLagoya, OscarGhigliaand Liza Zoe among others).She has given recitals in France, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, the USA as well as in Athens and in many large Greek cities.

Maro Razi began collaborating with Evangelos Boudounis in 1988 when they formed the guitar duet which is still musically active today.  They have participated in many important Greek and international festivals (Athens, Ioannina, Patras, Nafpaktos, Heraclion, Istanbul, Bonn, Nicosia, New York) and appeared as soloists with a number of orchestras and chamber music ensembles (Camerata, the Symphony Orchestra of the Greek State Radio and Television, the Greek String Quartet, the Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Colours, the Salonica State Orchestra).

She has appeared at the Athens Concert Hall, the Salonica Concert Hall, the Herod Atticus Theatre and the Lycabettus Theatre among others.  She also participated as one of the main soloists in the much talked-about concert “Evangelos Boudounis – 200 guitars” which took place many times at the Athens Concert Hall.

She has collaborated with Greek and foreign conductors such as Saulius Sondeckis, Hikmet Sismek, Alexandros Myrat, Miltos Logiadis,  Tassos Simeonides etc. as well as soloists and singers such as Elena Papandreou, Elpiniki Zervou, Savina Yannatou, Nena Venetsanou, Vassia Zacharopoulou, Marios Frangoulis, String Demons among others.

Maro Razi  and Evangelos Boudounis have recorded 9 CDs together.  The first, which was released by the recording label “Sirios” and was entitled “Recital for Two”, contained works by Sor, Granados, Piazzolla and de Falla.  The second CD, released by “LYRA” was called “LET IT Beatles” and contained a suite of the same name by Evangelos Boudounis, based on the most popular songs of the unforgettable band.  “LYRA” also released “A Song for Manos”, 2 CDs containing the most important songs of Manos Hadjidakis from the theatre and the cinema arranged by Evangelos Boudounis.  Also, the following recording labels have released CDs: EROS released “100 Guitars at the Herodion”, Legend released “Libertango”, “Evangelos Boudounis – Maro Razi” 100 Guitars – Historia de un Amor’,Irida released ‘Say it with a Guitar No. 2”, and “200 Guitars live at the Athens Concert Hall”was released by FM Records. She has also recorded for the Greek State Radio, Deutsche Welle and EBU.
