Ptolemaios Armaos

Ptolemaios was born in Athens in 1993. He began learning the guitar at the age of 6 in Greece, wherehe received his diploma with the perfect note in 2010 as a student of Elena Papandreou. In 2011 he was accepted into the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne in the class of Prof. Roberto Aussel and he completed his bachelor studies in 2015 with the perfect note. In the years 2015-17 he did his master’s degreewith Roberto Aussel for guitar andHans-Werner Huppertz for chamber music.

In the last 3 years he has received scholarships from the Achelopoulion foundation and the prestigious Onassis Foundation.

He has participated as an active member in masterclasses given by Roland Dyens, Oscar Ghiglia, Marcin Dylla and Hubert Käppel, among others. In addition, he has attended the summer music academy of Chigiana with Oscar Ghiglia in Siena.

He has won prizes in international competitions (Volos, Lesvos, Essen, Thessaloniki etc.) and has been a finalist in the World Guitar Competition in Serbia.

He performs extensively in various countries in and out of Europe with solo and ensemble works from numerous cultures and styles, with classical and electric guitar, cello, piano, bouzouki and baglama. Additionally, he is a member of the Cologne Guitar Quartet, winners of the 1st prize of the Competition for the interpretation of modern music in Karlsruhe(2015).Most recently he has been collaborating as a duo with the Iranian percussionist Syavash Rastani;a blend of diverse musical styles that has already metwith great success.

Besides his instrumental activity he has shown great interest for composition and arranging. Most of his works are written for guitar or ensembles.
