Stela Miteva-Dinkova

Stela Miteva-Dinkova began studying the guitar at the age of ten with her father, Blagoi Mitev. The following year (1984), she was accepted in the music high school, Dobri Hristov, located in Varna (Bulgaria), to study guitar with Lyuben Haralambiev. In 1992, she continued her studies at the Academy of Music and Dance Art in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Within four years, she became a classical guitar assistant and is now a member of the faculty there. In 2009, shе was promoted to associate professor. Her students have gone on to win prestigious awards at national and international competitions and perform around the world.  

A talented performer herself, she has won first prize at international music festivals in the bulgarian cities of Dobrich, Albena (2002) and Plovdiv (1994), where she was awarded for her classical guitar interpretation.

Stela Dinkova is a strong exponent of Bulgarian music for the guitar. She compiled and published two collections of guitar music by Bulgarian composers (“Pieces for the Guitar from Bulgarian Composers,” a book and CD set – the first of its kind and “Pieces for Guitar” by Vassil Belezhkov and Vladimir Vlaev). Recently (2009) she produced a book entitled “Typical skills in the guitar left hand technique”.

Dinkova regularly performs as a soloist and with different chamber ensembles (mainly with flute and guitar) at international festivals in Macedonia, Poland, Greece, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, Tunesia, Turkey and the USA.
